While Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW) is an annual, week-long event that highlights the need to gamble responsibly, educating gambling patrons about responsible gambling and the signs of problem gambling is a year-round priority for the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) and its gambling industry partners.
RGAW is an opportunity for the AGLC and its industry partners to highlight the responsible gambling programs and initiatives undertaken by gaming licensees in support of their commitment to providing a socially responsible gaming industry.
Responsible Gambling Awareness Week - October 17 - 23, 2011
For the 5th annual Responsible Gambling Awareness Week (RGAW), the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission (AGLC) and its gaming industry and government partners will be reminding patrons of casinos, racing entertainment centres, VLT venues and bingo halls that gambling is a form of entertainment and not a way to make money.
Through promotional materials and events such as Responsible Gambling Information Centre (RGIC) open houses, RGAW focuses on educating gambling patrons about the realities of gambling, including the odds and randomness, the myths and facts and the actual cost of play.
This week provides the AGLC and its partners with the opportunity to remind gambling patrons about the need to gamble responsibly, and to help ensure gambling remains fun by setting and sticking to spending limits.
